Eyewear: Basics for Sample

The shape of the spectacles must take into account the size and shape of the eyes. Almond-shaped eyes need oblong or square shapes. For small eyes, the spectacles should not be too big; oval frames balance out eyes that are too wide apart and oblong frames help to make eyes that are too close together seem more widely spaced. Eyes that slant downwards at the outer corners suit frames with an upward sweep (butterfly style).

Face Shape: OVAL

An oval face shape has a slightly inverted egg-shape, high cheekbones and balanced proportions (the shape, placement and size of the nose, eyes and mouth) and is considered to be the ideal face shape. It is the rarest of all the face shapes, though many people are incorrectly deemed an oval face shape by hairstylists. More frames look good on your face shape than any other. In most cases, frames need only balance with your proportions and suit your colouring, age and lifestyle. The aim when selecting eyewear is to balance the face by choosing:

- Avoid frames that are very deep or narrow.

- Frames that are as wide as or wider than the broadest part of the face.

- Frames that are the same scale as the face.

- Frames that maintain the natural balance of your face.

Eyewear: Basics

Your glasses become an extension of yourself.

  • When looking at the basics, the frames should frame your face and your eyebrows, as well as sitting on or above your eyebrows, rarely under.
  • The arms while they hold the glasses in place, the placement will make your face look longer or shorter and can balance out your nose.
  • A low bridge will make your nose appear shorter while a high bridge will lengthen your nose.
